Should the root of a broken tooth be removed?

When a tooth breaks, you should immediately go to the dentist to check the condition of the root. The dentist takes an X-ray to assess whether the root can be saved. If not, it must be removed. The root that is left can cause inflammation and a source of infection. If it turns out that the root can be treated, a root canal procedure must be performed. After the root is properly prepared and protected, it can be left in the mouth. This protects the bone of the socket from atrophy. Thanks to this, it is possible to maintain a denture, for example. However, a better way is to make a prosthetic restoration – a post and a crown.
